VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for Windows platforms licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video.

Avidemux is a video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. Its graphical user interface looks similar to VirtualDub and most features known from VirtualDub are available too.
